I think I read some time ago a few ideas about changing the ranking system. Here is mine. Feel free to discuss.
SG = Solo Games points (easy, medium, hard, very hard and misc achievements)
MG = Multi Games points (actually 6 available)
SC = Solo Contests points
MC = Multi Contests points
Rank points = SG+MG+SC+MC
SG : up to around 5000 points spread across difficulty levels, the “X easy/medium/hard/very hard done” achievement value may be raised a little.
MG : each game could grant up to 500 points (up to 400 for max rank in the game, 100 based on current rank)
SC : up to 3000 (up 2000 for max global rank attained in any contest, up to 500 for max rank langage wise -only the best language score rettained-, up to 300 for average global ranking score for attended contests, up to 200 for the global ranking score in the previous SC -meaning 0 if you didn’t participate or ranked last in this one-)
MC : up to 3000 (up 2000 for max global rank attained in any contest, up to 500 for max rank langage wise -only the best language score rettained-, up to 300 for average global ranking score for attended contests, up to 200 for the global ranking score in the previous MC -meaning 0 if you didn’t participate or ranked last in this one-)
This would give :
1- consistent points base from SG
2- an interesting all time artificial intelligence points base from MG
3- a way to attain the top ranks for new contenders since it’s mainly based on your best contest performance
4- a way to free the top ranks spot by resetting the 200 points in SC and MC alternatively to 0 if the player didn’t attend to the last challenge, and making him be a real challenger at the same time since if he does attend, he might lower his two 300 points average score pool alternatively. Still while giving him a chance to raise his max score and points.
