[Poll] What programming language would you like CodinGame to support next?

Haskell is already supported.

We obviously don’t attach the same meaning to “supported”.

Hello, is there any plan to integrate graalVM for JVM languages (java, kotlin, scala)?
With my little experience, startup is much much faster and there will be no more timeout because of JIT (we’ll still have GCs to fight with  )

Forgot to specify: with native image (AOT compilation)

Sorry, I wasn’t sure if you were being sarcastic. All I know about the version of Haskell, which is a bit old indeed, is that the person who tried to update it to the last version experienced some difficulties. Since we don’t have a lot of demand for this language, that explains why we’ve decided not too spend too much time on it. That doesn’t mean we won’t at some point. Also, we don’t have any Haskell developer in the team so we’re lacking knowledge on it and it’s more difficult to take decisions.
I invite all the Haskell developers to help us by giving us advice on what we could do.

There’s been a bit of activity there recently.

As said in that thread and elsewhere, many Haskellers would be glad to help. We just lack a lot of visibility on whether something actually has a chance of being done, and what’s really deeply needed.

The common heuristic is “yes”.

I am happy to give advice on php 8 upgrade and how to enable jit, if that can help to move that noble cause forward…
I suppose this is not a mass need either, but php still seems to have a ~2% share among codingamers.
The progress in language between 7.3 and 8.0 is remarkable, and not just speedwise.
Regarding breaking changes: mostly affects only the worst, against-best-practice, type-juggler codes. (some warnings are elevated to errors). I could update my 10y old, written-for-php-5 hobby project code of 1000s of lines in 5 mins.

+1 for julia

Hello,

Is the support for Julia coming in the future or is this thread forgotten ? Or is there an issue with Julia being supported ?

Probably more likely to get something added from here:

Hmm, adding MySQL or Markdown would surely shake things up here

Oh I see, too bad but it makes sense, thanks

For me, coding is something I find relaxing and interesting. Moreover, I observed that more kids want to learn more about this domain as much as possible. For example, there are just some games or platforms which support [coding for kids](https://coding for kids), and I believe we should encourage them to appear more and more since they are our future. It's better to teach them something simple yet useful than to intrigue them and not giving any opportunity to develop and learn more.

I would really love to have java upgraded to latest stable LTS version that is 17 or at least 11.
I suppose that more existing codingamers using java would agree with me. It’s a pity there isn’t such a position as “Upgrade Java to 17” in this poll.

It seems that Julia made it to the top of the poll in the OP. Hope to see it available soon!

I’d love to see the Nim language being available on CodinGame. Perhaps it would make sense to add it when its 2.0 version is released, which should be soonish.

Thoughts?
